GET INVOLVED

VOLUNTEER

Our volunteers have the opportunity to live and work in an indigenous community far from the “backpacker trail.” You can learn Q’eqchi’, learn about the region's history, and go camping in the nearby Parque Nacional Laguna Lachua. The amenities are basic; the experience is anything but.

Opportunities are tailored to individual volunteers according to your experience and skills. Due to the time our small staff invests in our volunteers, we ask that you spend at least two weeks with us.

We charge a one-time fee of $50 to assist ADAWA with administrative expenses, ask that you cover your own travel and living expenses.

For more information, please contact us directly with your availability, interests, and a copy of your resume or CV.

LEAD A PROJECT

Our communities are hungry for the knowledge and skills they need to advance. We welcome motivated “self-starters” in Guatemala and beyond to collaborate with ADAWA on creative community development initiatives.

Project leaders take ownership of their project and see it through from start to finish- conception, to fundraising, to implementation.

We collaborate with and support project leaders throughout all phases to ensure that projects meet ADAWA standards for community participation, empowerment, and long-term sustainability.

If you are looking to gain experience in project management in a way that makes a real impact, please contact us with your ideas, your availability, and a copy of your CV/resume.

FUNDRAISE

Concrete and sand for wells. Stethoscopes for our midwives. Printing costs for workshop materials. These are just a few of our current (urgent) funding needs.

Fundraisers are a great way to get your community interested and invoved in the global community, and provide us the financial support we desperately need to get our initiatives off the ground.

Groups can hold a bake sale, give up their morning coffee for a week and donate the money saved, or hold a presentation at their local church or library to raise awareness of the issues faced by those in our region.

ADAWA would be thrilled to provide you with ideas, resources, and opportunities to connect directly with our community. If you're interested in raising general funds or sponsoring specific initiatives, we'd love to hear from you!
